FATHER JULES PAPA
(Kuau
Cove)
Less than 4 km (2.4 miles) east of Lower Pa'ia Park there is public access
over privately owned property. Strong shore currents make swimming unsafe
for the inexperienced, however, tidal pools at the end of the beach can
make a nice day in the sun even nicer.
HOOKIPA BEACH PARK
Another 2 km (1.2 miles) east of Father Jules Papa, off No. 36, some of
Maui's finest winter surfing awaits with surf reaching 3 to 5 meters
(about 10 to 15 feet) at times. Swimming is unsafe here but facilities
include rest rooms, showers, 4 open pavilions, picnic tables, grills and
paved parking for an enjoyable day along a spectacular beach.
TWIN FALLS
From this location, only about 4 km (about 2.4 miles) east of Pauwela
Town, the first of 56 bridges to Hana is crossed, taking us on paved,
winding road, with over 600 curves to encounter.
This road to Hana and
back, if you so choose, should take about 6 to 8 hours, so get an early
start and take your time to enjoy.
