MAKENA LANDING
One of Maui' s busiest ports in the mid '20s Makena is bypassed on
Makena
Road, taking us to beaches unsurpassed in beauty and tranquility.
ONEULI BEACH (Black Sand Beach)
Access is on dirt road from Makena Road and is ideally suited for
snorkeling and swimming in generally calm waters. Has a rocky bottom and
steep drop off.
PUU OLAI BEACH
Access is via a trail from Oneuli Beach over a large southern rock point.
A shallow sandy bottom and
gentle break offers good swimming and bodysurfing with snorkeling at the
point on calm days.
AHIHI-KINAU NATURAL RESERVE
A short distance north of La Perouse Bay is an area set aside to preserve
marine, plant and animal life.
LA PEROUSE BAY
At the end of Makena Road, access is non-traversable by passenger car. It provides great scuba diving but is poor swimming. There are no
facilities.
