(Center Exercise)
Battement Tendu
Pirouettes en dehors
(from Fourth Position)
The first center exercise is a combination of Battement Tendu, degage, change of directions, changes of body weight into double pirouettes.
Open battement tendu front, full degage with rond de jambe and switching corners, repeat degage and 2 x battement tendu to derriere.
Repeat from the left side.
2 x battement tendu to the side (changing legs) and quick battement jete to First Position.
Repeat 2 x battement tendu, 3 x jetés, preparation on passé and pirouettes en dehors from Fourth Position close to the back. Repeat from the left and finish pirouettes in degage Fourth Position.

Tendu - means to stretch.
Battement Tendu -
is the stretching of the leg and foot away from the body with toes
remaining on the surface of the floor.
Plié - means bending of the knees.
Demi-Plié - is half bending of the knees.
Grand-Plié - is half bending of the knees.
Ports de Bras - graceful and expressive movement of the arms.
Relevé - raised up or
to rise.
Demi-plié, Relevé -
half bend raised up.
