For most everyday experience
Prefixes we use are

milli, centi and kilo

milli  1 one thousandth (0.001)
of the base or derived unit, or unit of measure
use the  prefix milli
(as in millimeter OR milliliter OR milligram)
•
centi 1 one hundredth (0.01)
of the base or derived unit, or unit of measure
use
the prefix centi (as in centimeter)
•
kilo 1000 times as much as the
base or derived unit, or unit of measure use
the prefix kilo (as in kilometer and kilogram
(pronounced "KILL-oh-meet-ur" NOT "kill-AH-mit-ur")

WRITING IS EASY
